My first ever pony needle felt. Oh my word Rarity's hair was hard to do, and it's super delicate so no one is allowed to touch her lol. Originally I gave her simplified eyes (more simple than Pinkie's even) and it just didn't look right so I redid them more in the show style and she looks 100x better. If you wanted to see her original eyes there are photos on my blog: [link]

Wow, I love MLP!!
Do you know if raw wool is available at Hobbylobby or Michael's, or some other store? I really would like to avoid ordering online if possible, and I've been wanting to try needle felting for quite some time now.
And do you know where I could get a felting needle?

Well, so far the only time I've found felting wool in actual shops has been in Hobbycraft, which I assume could be a UK equivalent to the shops you mentioned? The selection there was very poor and the quality of wool was horrible to be honest. I haven't had much luck, but then I haven't tried searching very hard, I source my wool online. The only alternative I could think of for you to try could be craft fairs maybe. I've heard some of the big ones have a large selection of raw wool for needle felting.
Felting needles should be easier to find than the wool, I've seen them for sale in craft stores :) If you're not averse to buying the needles online then Ebay or Etsy have loads of options.
Sorry if I haven't been much help, but good luck in finding some materials!

Great job! How did you get her mane and tail to look so polished? Did you spray it with a fixative?

In this picture she hadn't been sprayed yet, I just needle felted the mane and tail very sparingly to keep it smooth and soft (not a great technique if you want durability btw), but I have started using hairspray recently and it works a treat :)
