Here's my entry for the 'silhouette' contest held by It was created using felt tips and fine-liners. Originally inspired by Vania Zouravliov's silhouette work (a stunning artist I would highly recommend), as well as carrying on the kind of work I did for my final major project for my Foundation art degree last year. It incorporates lots of different symbols and archetypes from traditional folk and fairytales from all over the world. I didn't want to just pile together a load of animals and objects so I got a book on symbolism out from the library and looked up which symbols would be most appropriate, and tried to place them in context and use their meanings to build up an image that represented the dark undertones and symbolism within fairytales. Hope that at least comes across a little Check out the contest and the other entries here [link]
